Type 2 diabetes: This drug is administered as an adjunct to diet and exercise therapy to improve blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes.
-Monotherapy
-Combination therapy

[Monotherapy and combination therapy]
The recommended dose of this drug is 10 mg once daily for monotherapy and combination therapy with other hypoglycemic agents such as insulin. If this drug is used in combination with insulin or an insulin secretagogue such as a sulfonylurea, a lower dose of insulin or insulin secretagogue may be considered to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia.

[Early combination therapy]
When co-administered with metformin in those who have not previously received diabetes medication, the initial recommended dose of this drug is 5 mg once daily or 10 mg once daily. This drug can be administered orally once a day at any time of the day, regardless of food intake. Tablets should be swallowed whole.

[Renal impairment]
The effectiveness of this drug depends on renal function.
