Dietary supplements that reduce elevated total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, apo-B protein and triglyceride levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia (heterozygous familial and non-familial types, Fredrickson type lla) and mixed dyslipidemia (Fredrickson type llb) and increase HDL-cholesterol

Patients before and while taking this drug must follow a standard cholesterol-lowering diet. For adults, the initial dose is usually 1 to 2 mg of pitavastatin calcium once a day after dinner. If the effect of lowering LDL-cholesterol levels is not sufficient, the dose can be increased up to 4 mg per day. Depending on the LDL-cholesterol level, treatment goals, and patient response, the dose is appropriately increased or decreased at intervals of 4 weeks or more, and the therapeutic effect of this drug is maintained with continuous administration.
